Fossils contain stromatolites - the most persistent evidence of life in Earth's history
Researchers say have found evidence of ancient life in fossils found in Greenland, leading them to believe there was life on earth more than 200 million years earlier than thought. The rocks contained stromatolites, or layered structures produced by microorganism communities that trapped and bound sediments. Click here for more on this story.
