Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’ Will Cost Netflix $125 Million

The Ultimate Mafia Movie Is Coming To Netflix

After a falling out with Paramount Studios, Martin Scorcese’s The Irishman has been picked up by Netflix, and is said to cost them over $125 million.

Scorcese’s first Netflix film, which will stars film icons Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, is the real-life story of Frank Sheeran, a Teamsters official who confessed to killing Jimmy Hoffa.

Why is this R-rated gangster film so expensive you ask?

The film will be using expensive technology on the three iconic stars to make them look ages 30, 50 and 70 throughout the film, staying away from makeup and prosthetics.

The script, written by Steve Zaillian, is based off Charles Brandt’s books ‘I Hear You Paint Houses: Frank ‘The Irishman’ Sheeran’ And ‘Closing The Case On Jimmy Hoffa’ which depicts the story of Frank Sheeran and death of Jimmy Hoffa, a labor union leader who “disappeared” in 1975.

The film is set to be released in 2019 on Netflix, and is sure to bring back all the Godfather and Goodfellas feels.
