Light Up Night In Cookstown Moved

Conflict with Remembrance Day cited

It’s an annual tradition, on the second Friday of November – but not this year. The Cookstown Chamber of Commerce has opted to change the date of its Light Up Night festivities in deference to Remembrance Day (they would fall on the same day this year) and in light of what South Simcoe Police Constable Rich Williamson calls ‘veiled’ threats. Light Up Night features a parade and Christmas Tree Lighting on Queen Street. Shops remain open and Santa makes an appearance. A new date has yet to be chosen.
