Life Imitates Art On Highway 400

Video game led to joyride

OPP first got calls about a suspected drunk driver northbound on Highway 400 around 11 o’clock Saturday night; callers talked of a driver weaving back and forth from lane to lane. Police say the driver got off the highway at King Road, turned around and headed back south. When officers  finally got the vehicle pulled over, they say an 11 year old boy at the wheel. He said he’d been playing the video game Grand Theft Auto and wanted to see what it was like to drive a real car. He’s now had the opportunity to ride in the back of a police cruiser, too. Police took him home and had the family vehicle towed.
