Jays Fan Gets Taken To The Cleaners

Online ticket purchase fails to take flight

An Innisfil man is out $700 after paying for nine pairs of Blue Jays’ tickets on a buy-and-sell website. South Simcoe Police say he sent the money via email money transfer; that the suspect’s email and telephone were deactivated shortly after the victim began asking where his tickets were. Police advise, when making online purchases, you make sure you have a valid item in your hand before offering any cash. “Tickets are frequently counterfeited and sold multiple times, especially when they are for future dates, as they often can’t be checked for validity until long after the suspect has disappeared. We suggest you only purchase sports and concert tickets from verified and authorized outlets.”
