It’s Playoff Season… Will The Barrie Colts Take It All The Way?

Barrie Colts Playoffs start Thursday

The Barrie Colts open their 2016 OHL Playoff season heading into the Easter Weekend with Game 1 and Game 2 of the best of 7 first round series against the Mississauga Steelheads on Thursday and then Saturday at the Barrie Molson Centre…

Barrie had an exciting regular season. The team featured a high-powered offence that scored a lot of goals and finished first overall in the Central Division, 9 points ahead of the North Bay Battalion.

Fans have lots of reasons to cheer on this year’s squad. Personal and team records were set. Kevin Labanc won the OHL scoring title and set a franchise record for the Barrie Colts compiling 127 points in 66 games. The old record was held by Sheldon Keefe who held the record of 121 points in the 1999-2000 season. Andrew Mangiapane also thrilled fans with his goal scoring finesse. He scored a total of 51 goals during the regular season and assisted on another 55.

All in all, if things go well for the Barrie Colts, they could go deep into the OHL Playoff Season. One hockey expert recently predicted Barrie could make it all the way to the OHL finals.

The journey all starts this weekend against Mississagua and when it comes to playoff hockey, it’s one game at a time. Follow along, it should be a fun ride.
