UPDATE: Suspect Identified; Arrest Pending in Wallet Theft

Stolen Card Used Within Minutes of Alleged Theft

Friday – Barrie Police say they have positively identified the suspect in this case and an arrest is pending. They would like to thank the public for their overwhelming assistance in identifying the suspect in this matter so quickly.

Wednesday – Barrie Police are looking for a man they say used a stolen credit card to buy some lottery tickets and smokes. Investigators say the suspect swiped a wallet and iPhone from an unlocked car in the Grove and Newton Streets area of Barrie around 9:00 Monday night. Officers say the credit card was used in three separate transactions, about a half hour after the theft, at a gas station on Grove Street. The suspect is described as:

  • male
  • white
  • 35-40 years old
  • 6 ft
  • medium build
  • clean shaven

Wearing:

  • red Detroit Red Wings ball cap
  • dark blue winter jacket w white stripes across the chest
