Horses Spared Following Oro Medonte Barn Fire

Barn A Total Loss, Animals Weren't In It At The Time

A fire in Oro Medonte destroyed a barn, but spared the animals living in it. The structure on Highway 93 by Partridge Road was being used to house 15 horses, and all of them have been accounted for after the fire started around 6:30 this morning. The horses had been let out the night before, and hadn’t been brought back to the barn. Fire crews were able to keep the blaze from spreading to nearby structures, but the barn is considered a total loss, with damage estimates at around $380,000. No cause has been determined, as Oro Medonte Fire officials tell us the damage is so significant, it could take some time.
