Historic Oro Medonte Church Back On Its Foundation

Oro African Methodist Episcopal Church Moved To Effect Repairs On Aging Foundation

Church Move 16DEC15 (2) A historic Oro Medonte church has some firm footing now. The Oro African Methodist Episcopal Church was today moved back onto its original foundation, after having to be
relocated while that foundation underwent repairs. The process took two months, after public fundraising and government contributions saw over $250,000 go towards restoration of the dilapidated church. Built between 1846 and 1849, the Church is one of, if not, the oldest African log church still standing in North America. Photos courtesy of Samath Othman of the Township of Oro MedonteChurch Move 16DEC15
