Happy Ending To A Search in Alcona

Police Crediting Canine Unit For Locating Young Runaway

A report of a missing girl from Alcona could have ended much differently, if not for the South Simcoe Police canine unit. Police got the call Sunday evening of a 12-year-old Manitoba girl who took off from a foster home through a second floor window without coat or shoes. The young girl was found by the canine officers in a nearby field, and police say it was -3 degrees at the time.
