Halloween Safety

Some Suggestions from the OPP to Keep Your Little Demons Safe

Boo! Hallowe’en is fast approaching, and as your young ghouls and goblins, princesses and superheroes hit the streets to Trick or Treat, here are a few safety tips to keep in mind, courtesy of the Ontario Provincial Police:

Halloween Safety Tips

  • Wear light coloured Halloween costumes, preferably ones with reflective material
  • Use face paint instead of wearing a mask
  • Wear short costumes and comfortable shoes
  • Walk, don’t run from house to house
  • Carry a flashlight
  • Do not criss-cross the street, walk up one side and then down the other
  • Follow the “rules of the road” and remember to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN before you cross the street
  • Never go out “trick or treating” alone. Young people should be accompanied by an adult
  • Tell your parents/guardians your route
  • Never go inside houses or cars to get your treat
  • Go only to homes that are well lit
  • Do not eat your treats before an adult has checked them
