Gord Downie To Be Honoured At Canadian Music Week With Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award

The Tragically Hip Frontman Is Being Honoured For His Humanitarian Work Throughout His Life

Gord Downie, who passed away on October 17th, 2017, is set to be honoured posthumously with the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award at the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards during Canadian Music Week on May 9th.

 

The Canadian music legend is being recognized for his humanitarian work throughout his life, including his support of causes like War Child, Lake Ontario Waterkeeper, Camp Trillium, athe Sunnybrook Brain Cancer Research Fund, and more. In 2016, Downie even set up the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, which aims to promote reconciliation between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Canadians.
