Five Points Plan Moving Forward… Fast

Site Plan, Staff Report to be Submitted Before Next Week

A proposal in front of Barrie City Council is being fast tracked. At City Hall Monday night, council gave the initial nod to a zoning bylaw amendment, that would allow a proposed mixed commercial and residential structure be built at the five points. Council also voted to have the subsequent site plan for this structure be “bumped up” to council, with a report and city staff recommendations be presented before next week’s meeting. Council would learn more about what the development will look like next week, but we already know that there will be nine one-bedroom apartments in the building set aside as affordable housing, for a period of 20 years.
