Final Piece Of Trans-Canada Trail In Place In Barrie

Part of longest network of trails in the world

The City of Barrie has officially opened the last section of the Trans Canada Trail in the city. The 200 metre section of trail between Yonge Street and Little Avenue completes the Barrie portion of the trail – which is 20 kilometres long. The Trans Canada Trail was begun in 1992 to celebrate Canada’s 125th year. It is the world’s longest network of multi-use recreational trails. When complete, it will link nearly a thousand communities across Canada.
