Festive RIDE Stops Over 700 Cars, Lays Two Charges

Barrie, South Simcoe Police Hold Spot Checks Around Region

Area police must be happy with the results of a recent RIDE program. Both the Barrie Police Service and South Simcoe Police held Festive RIDE spot checks in their areas last night, and after a combined total of 742 vehicles stopped, only one Drunk Driving charge was laid. South Simcoe Police stopped the lucky driver just before 9:00 last night on 25th Sideroad in Alcona, the 54-year-old Innisfil man has a January court date. Meanwhile, Barrie Police Service say a 33-year-old man will be in court next month to answer to a Possession charge.
