Farmers’ Market Could Take Over A Downtown Barrie Street

Mulcaster Street Could Be Closed Off For Seasonal Weekend Market

Barrie’s seasonal farmers’ market may find new home, in the form of a closed off roadway. The idea was floated at City Hall Monday night, in the form of a motion from downtown Councillor Rose Romita. Council voted to have city staff look at the feasibility of holding the Barrie Farmers’ Market directly on Mulcaster Street itself, instead of on City Hall property nearby. The Farmers’ Market took over Mulcaster St. from Collier to Worsley Streets on three dates last October, and city staff will look into whether its feasible to do the same thing from the Spring to the Fall. They’ll report back in the coming weeks.
