Fair pay for contract government workers proposed by Liberals
The act would affect people working in construction, building cleaning or security jobs
The governing Ontario Liberals are set to introduce legislation aimed at protecting workers under contracts with the government. Premier Kathleen Wynne says the proposed Government Contract Wages act would allow the establishment of minimum rates of pay for workers in construction, building cleaning and security services work, requiring contractors and subcontractors to pay according to those rates. The act needs to pass inside the House of Commons in order to be enacted.
