Drunk Driving Charges Laid After Shanty Bay Man Had His Keys Taken

Police Say He Had Double The Legal Limit Of Alcohol In His System

A concerned citizen took the keys and likely kept a drunk driver off the roads.

Barrie Police were called to a Quarry Ridge Rd. coffee shop early Friday evening, with reports a man tried to drive drunk there. Witnesses say he pulled into the lot and immediately struck a light post, twice, while trying to park. It is said he stumbled into the shop and back out again with coffee and keys in hand. Someone stepped in and took his keys, holding them until police arrived.

Back at the stationhouse, it is said a 65-year-old Shanty Bay man was found to have double the legal limit of booze in his system.
