Day Of Mourning For Workers Hurt Or Lost On The Job

Powers That Be Say Cost Of On-the-Job Injury/Death Costs $106,000/Year

Today is the Day of Mourning, a day where we take a moment to remember everyone who have been injured or killed on the job. The day was marked locally at Barrie City Hall this morning, with members of local unions gathering with politicians and health and safety reps, to pause and remember those lost. Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board calculated the cost of injuries or death on the job balances out to about $106,000 a year, while the actual cost of the hundreds of workers injured or killed on the job is beyond measure.
