Dangerous Driving Charge Laid in Penetanguishene

Police Say Driver Struck A Few Other Vehicles Prior To Arrest

A Springwater man was taken into custody, but not before allegedly causing some havoc first. Southern Georgian Bay OPP got the head’s up of a hit and run in Wyebridge around 11:00 yesterday morning, claiming a minivan struck another vehicle before taking off from the scene. Police say the minivan was seen driving erratically at high speeds along Highway 93, forcing other vehicles off the road. The vehicle allegedly continued through Penetanguishene, striking a taxi and nearly hitting a pedestrian on the way. The minivan was tracked down by police, now a 52-year-old man is facing charges of Dangerous Driving, Street Racing, and Fail to Remain. He was expected in Barrie court this morning.
