Crime of Opportunity in Rural Bradford

Elderly Victim Robbed At Front Door

South Simcoe Police are investigating what they call a crime of opportunity. Around 6:30 last night, an elderly man on the 6th Line of Bradford got a knock at the door, answering it to find a guy asking for directions to Highway 27. The old fella pointed him in the right direction, only to have the man return five minutes later. That’s when police say the suspect pushed the victim backwards and ripped a gold chain from the victim’s neck, fleeing in a grey car. Officers believe the suspect was checking rural homes for a good B&E target, when he came across an easy-to-rob elderly victim. He’s described as a white man between 5’10” and 6′, with a thin build and short brown hair. He was clean shaven with a slight tan, wearing a white t-shirt. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call South Simcoe Police, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
