UPDATE With Charges: Crash Shuts Down 400 Through Innisfil

Three Vehicle Crash Caused By Insecure Load

Thursday – It took 3 o’clock this morning to get the remaining lane open southbound 400 at Innisfil beach Road after yesterday’s fiery crash involving a mini van and two tractor trailers. OPP say it began when a chair fell off the back of a pick-up truck causing the driver of a minivan to swerve to avoid it. There was contact with a tractor trailer, which in turn struck another transport truck on the shoulder of he highway. Both burst into flames. There were no serious injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck has been charged with having an insecure load.

Wednesday – A crash on the 400 snarled the afternoon commute and brought out two fire services. Just after 3:00 Wednesday afternoon, reports came in of a multivehicle crash and vehicle fire on the south 400 just past Innisfil Beach Road. OPP Constable Kerry Schmidt says an insecure load caused several vehicles to swerve, before two tractor trailers and a van were involved in a crash. One of two tractor trailers caught fire, while Innisfil and Essa Fire Services brought the blaze under control within an hour of the collision. While two of three lanes were open again by 6:30, a third was to remain closed overnight for road repair. Two people reportedly suffered minor injuries.
