Police Say Handgun Was Brought into the Country Illegally
A Cookstown man is under arrested after police say he took a gun from his dad’s gun safe. Officers were contacted Saturday about the weapon, saying the loaded .45 calibre pistol was imported from the States illegally a few years ago, and the suspect kept it in his father’s gun safe since. After an argument, investigators say the 47-year-old man took the gun back, after which police were informed of it. They moved in, made sure the weapon was safe, and arrested their suspect.
