Canada’s Wonderland Opening Week

A sure sign that Spring is finally arriving is opening week for Canada’s Wonderland.  Toronto’s giant theme-park will have it’s gates swing open for the season this coming Friday.

This year, there has been a lot of hype about the addition of the tallest, fastest, and longest dive roller-coaster in the world, The Yukon Striker, which makes it’s debut to the public this weekend.

Three rows of eight riders climb 245 feet in the air, before coming to a stop while you are overhanging a straight down 90 degree drop into an underwater tunnel.  After the pause while looking down into the depths below, the brakes are released and hand on because it’s straight down reaching speeds of up to 130 kmh into the tunnel, and through amazing twists, turns and loops for the entire exhilarating 3,625 feet before you can finally catch your breath some 3 and a half minutes later.
