Busy Sunday For Oro-Medonte Firefighters

Two fires within an hour of each other Sunday had Oro-Medonte firefighters calling for help. The first call came at at 3:10pm – a car port ablaze at Lakeshore Road near the 5th Line. Fire Prevention officer John Wigle says it started in a car and spread from there. A bystander was treated for smoke inhalation. The second call came at 3:50pm, to a garage on Highway 11 South near the 3rd Line. Wigle says they were able to confine the flames to the garage and attic area with the help of firefighters from Barrie and Springwater. No one was hurt. Wigle says the cause appears to have been electrical in nature.
