Olympic Moment Has Arrived

Jasmine 2Barrie’s Jasmine Mian is about to fulfill her Olympic dream.  The former Innisdale Secondary School student will be representing Canada in women’s wrestling 48 KG weight class this week in Rio.

Many people around the area know Jasmine from growing up and going to school in Barrie, and also during her days training at the Kempenfelt Wrestling Club before studying at Brock University and eventually moving to Calgary to further studies and her training.

Jasmine has a real shot to pick up a medal for Canada.  She was a bronze medalist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and goes into the Olympics feeling confident about her abilities and performance on the international stage.

The journey begins tomorrow morning for Jasmine with the first round of qualifying matches.  The medal matches will go later in the afternoon.

Best of luck to Jasmine from all of us back home.  We’ll be able to say we knew her back when before she was a SUPERSTAR!
