Barrie Woman Accused Of Siphoning From Deceased Mother’s Account

Police Say Suspect Defrauded System Of Thousands

A Barrie daughter is up on charges after they say she took advantage of her mother’s death. The Barrie Police Fraud unit was contacted in June by the Ontario Disability Support Program about a $40,000 theft. Investigators dug deeper, and say they discovered a 32-year-old woman had been siphoning money out of her mother’s bank account, despite mom passing away in early 2013. Officers claim she also defrauded Ontario Works out of a few thousand bucks in social assistance money. The suspect was on Wednesday arrested and charged with Fraud and Theft among others.
