UPDATE: Barrie Police Seeking Man After ‘Prank’ Call

WEDNESDAY: Barrie Police investigators have identified the male who called 9-1-1. They say he did in fact believe what he had witnessed to be a crime in progress. Investigators are continuing to investigate the circumstances that initiated the call 9-1-1. Police asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time to call Investigators at 705-725-7025 Ext.2129 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

TUESDAY: Barrie Police trying to track down the guy who made a prank call about someone with a gun. The call came Sunday afternoon around 5 o’clock from a payphone at the Esso Station at 2 Bryne Drive. The caller indicated he had seen someone with a gun in a vehicle. A description of the car and a plate number were given, but they did not match. Police have since gone through security footage and have released a picture of the man they believe made the call. At this time the Barrie Police Service Criminal Investigative Division is treating this occurrence as Public Mischief and  asking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
