Barrie Housing Market Slows, Still Healthy: CMHC

Federal And Provincial Housing Starts Down Too

Barrie’s housing market, just like the provincial and federal levels, are showing signs of slowing. The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation says housing starts for the Barrie area were at about 1,400 units last month, down just shy of 500 units from March. While it is a bit of a dip, market analysts say Barrie’s starts are still relatively high. Meanwhile, the CMHC says federal housing starts are down over ten thousand, thanks to big slowdowns in both Ontario and Quebec.
