The Barrie Historical Archive is still working to recoup their losses. They were displaced by the same Toronto St. flooding as the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, but lost a great deal of material and equipment. Travis Doucette of the Barrie Historical Archive told us they lost literature, promotional material, office supplies, DVD players, and a number of costly blown up display photographs. A few generous members of the community have stepped up to help replace some of the lost items, but not all. And that’s put a dent in the Archives’ fundraising efforts; they’re asking folks to take another look at their crowdfunding campaign, so their plans for the September launch of an online, interactive historical archive of Barrie doesn’t get all wet too.
