Barrie Food Bank Launches Fall Food Drive

More than 30,000 people a year turn to the food bank for help

The Barrie Food Bank has set its sights high as it launches its fall food drive. Executive Director Peter hoping to collect 150-thousand pounds of food and $100,000 in the coming weeks…

Thirty-two thousand people have sought help at the food bank in the last year – 56-hundred of them children. More than a thousand were first-time users. Most needed items include peanut butter, canned fruit and vegetables, canned tuna, luncheon meats, pasta and pasta sauce, juice, juice boxes, baby food, and diapers size 5 & 6. Food donations cane be dropped off at any local grocery store including Zehrs, Loblaws, Metro, Sobeys, Foodland Stroud, Food Basics, Freshco, Costco, the Wholsale Club and No Frills, or at the Barrie Food Bank, 42 Anne St South Unit 2, (behind Pioneer Family Pools, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm and Saturdays October 8th, and 15th from 9:00am to 1:00pm). Financial donations can be mailed to Barrie Food Bank, P.O. Box 145, Barrie, Ontario, L4M 4S9, dropped off at 42 Anne St South Unit 2 or made on-line donations at www.barriefoodbank.org. Tax receipts provided. Our station has a drop off bin in the front lobby, at 431 Huronia Road, Unit 10.
