Barrie Could Still Get Crossing Guards…If The Price Is Right

City looking for partners to help foot the bill

Barrie City Council still working toward getting a stable of crossing guards in place. Councillor Mike McCann got the ball rolling on this, and while some councillors are concerned about the high cost – a minimum 350 thousand dollars a year – McCann thinks partners could be found to help share the cost. Staff will look into it and get back to council in the coming months. Councillor Barry Ward voted against the proposal noting he’s never had a request for crossing guards, but he has had residents approach him about more sidewalks and traffic calming measures.
