Barrie And Its Hospital Rank High On Organ Donation

Higher-than-Average Donor Registration in Town

Us Barrie residents are a real giving bunch, and apparently, that applies to our organs too. The Trillium Gift Of Life, a provincial body in charge of organ donations, says 43 per cent of Barrie residents have registered to be organ donors, which just trounces the provincial average of thirty per cent, but Trillium’s Dr. Verka Prekash says we can do better.

The same report indicates there’s a 100 per cent conversion rate at Barrie’s Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, which means RVH doesn’t let anything go to waste, if they can help it. But they have to have permission to use those organs first, which may mean a rather macabre conversation with family before you pass away.

You can register to be an organ donor online here.
