Ban On Assisted Dying Lifted

But guidelines still have to be approved

We begin the week in a grey zone in terms of assisted dying. The ban on medically-assisted death ended at midnight, as per a Supreme Court of Canada ruling, but Ottawa has yet to put assisted-death laws in place. MPs sent the bill to the Senate late last week; the Senate on Friday sent the legislation to committee for discussion – that won’t happen until tomorrow. With no laws in place, doctors who specialize in end-of-life care have no clear guidelines on who should be granted such a request.
