Back To Class, Back To Basics On The Roads

Police keeping a watchful eye on school zones

Hot n sweaty start to the school year. A Heat Warning is in effect from Innisfil to Toronto, the humidex could touch 38 today. This will not deter police from patrolling school zones in earnest this morning. South Simcoe Police are taking a two-pronged approach to back-to-school says Constable Rich Williamson…

Next week, Williamson says South Simcoe officers will have their ticket books handy. Police in other jurisdictions may not be as forgiving this week. Barrie Police have launched Project-Safe Start – an initiative is to educate and bring awareness to motorists and pedestrians travelling through school zones and along bus routes. Officers will be out in full force in school zones and on school bus routes in search of traffic violations in efforts to keep everyone safe. These officers will represent front line Uniform Patrol, Traffic Services and School Liaison officers.
