Awesome Light Displays In Simcoe County

The Griswolds Have Nothing On These

One of my favourite Christmas traditions as a kid was bundling in to the car and driving around the city to see awesome light displays that people put up outside their house.

I have started doing the same thing with my kids the past couple of years. If you thought that people going kookoo for Christmas lights may be a thing of the past due to rising hydro costs – let me tell you, that is not the case. There are still a few Kris Kringle’s in our area who go ALL OUT for the love of Christmas.

Here are a few incredible light displays in our area that are worth a drive to see.

Hicking Trail

These two homes on Hickling Trail are side by side, so you get two awesome views on one trip. Added bonus – you can rest easy knowing they’re not annoying their neighbours!

123 Violet St

One of the better known displays in Barrie, the spectacle at Violet St. is not to be missed. The owners here even have a fireworks show to kick off their show for the season!

36 Shalom Way

This south Barrie light display is INCREDIBLE. My kids were hollering with excitement during the “grand finale” of this particular song.

Greene Family Lights – 4 Berkar St, Angus

Stop whatever you’re doing, get in the car and drive to Angus RIGHT NOW! The Greene Family pulls out all of the stops with their epic light display. Santa, Frosty, Elsa and Olaf all get in on the action. They turn their lights on at 5:30 every day, and keep them on until 9:30 PM Sunday through Thursday, and 11:00 PM on weekends. They also accept donations for the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Robbins Farm – Line 13, Warminster

Each year the Robbins family, the Cadeau family and their neighbour Val Hutchinson decorate the farmyard with hundreds of different lights and Christmas images. It is a fantasyland that should not be missed.
