Arkells Win Big at Junos

Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year

The annual celebration of Canadian music culminated with the Juno Award telecast last night after days of  music-related activities and parties in the City of London, Ontario.

Sarah McLachlan was the host and performed later in the show.  Sting, who has been in Toronto the last number of weeks appearing in the critically acclaimed stage play The Last Ship, made a special appearance to prolonged applause and appreciation.  Sting was there to introduce David Foster who won this year’s Humanitarian Award.

It turned out to be a big night for Hamilton’s Arkells, who won Group of the Year, and Rock Album of the Year.  Corey Hart was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, announced he was working on a new album, with a concert tour coming this summer.

Hart performed his 80’s hits Never Surrender and Sunglasses at Night and had the crowd dancing and singing along.
