1. Prayers for Rain in Alberta Answered
Rain fell and temperatures cooled in Fort McMurray on Sunday, slowing the spread of the wildfire which continues to expand into remote forested areas north of the city. Firefighters continue to hope for rain and low temperatures to quell the flames.
2. Barrie Housing Market Slows

While the market is still hot, house sales in Barrie took a dip last month. The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation says housing starts for the Barrie area were at about 1,400 units last month, down just shy of 500 units from March. On the federal level there are signs that the market is slowing as well. Read more about that here.
3. Russia Offers Help to Alberta
The Federal Government is yet to respond to Putin’s offer to send Russian water bombers to Alberta. A spokesman for Russia’s embassy in Ottawa said they continue to stand “ready to help our Canadian partners to fight the ongoing wildfires in Alberta.” While the Queen has issued a statement, there’s been no offer of assistance from U.K. or U.S. Read more here.
4. Fundraiser for Women’s Shelter Tonight
