5. Hydro Prices on the Rise (… Again!)
The price to keep the lights lit, the tv flickering and your smartphone charged is going up May 1. It’s the regular 6-month price adjustment from the Ontario Energy Board. This one will add about $3 a month to the average residential or small business bill. For more info, click here.
4. New Place for Your Used Stuff
Used to be Goodwill. Now, the former thrift shop on Bryne Drive in Barrie has a new life and a new name – Stuff. Former Goodwill employee Chad Smith is the guy behind this. He’s hired a few other former Goodwill employees to staff the place. It opens today.
3. Warmer Weather Could Spell Trouble on the Roads
An actual spring-like weekend beckons. So does the open road. OPP expecting more vehicles on the road this weekend..more motorcycles..and, historically, that leads to more collisions. OPP say most of them are preventable through good driving habits: wearing a seatbelt, no drinking, no texting.

Another Playoff Win for the Colts
The Barrie Colts advanced to the OHL Eastern Conference Final with last night’s 6-0 win and sweep of the North Bay Battalion. North Bay had eliminated Barrie in the second round of the playoffs the last two years.
