2017 Budget Set At Wasaga Beach

Adds an average $45 a year to the average property tax bill

Wasaga Beach residents will get more sidewalks, bike lanes and sewers next year, as well as new tennis courts and improved trails -all for an average $3.75 a month more in municipal taxes. Town council last night approved a 1.94 per cent budget increase for next year. It also includes funds for enhancing the main Street Market and implementing the downtown master plan. Mayor Brian Smith commented that, “the 2017 budget with a 1.94% tax rate increase maintains current service levels while continuing to allow for enhancements in the areas related to economic development, with an overall goal of building the tax base through economic growth. It is Council’s intention to begin the planning process for a new multi-purpose recreation centre in 2017. This project combined with Council’s focus on economic development initiatives will assist with creating an inclusive and vibrant community, for our valued residents and visitors to enjoy for years to come.”
