Rain And Snow This Week Add To Flooding Concerns

'Hazardous conditions around all waterbodies'

New flooding concerns have been raised as a result of this week’s rain and the added snow that fell in parts of Muskoka over the last couple of days. The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority has raised its flood advisory to moderate. No major flooding is expected, but officials note the Nottawasaga River downstream from the Minesing Wetland is still high from the late March storms and now there’s this threat of increased flows when the snow to the north starts melting. Hazardous conditions exist around all waterbodies, as there is a high risk of life-threatening injury if a person falls into the extremely cold water. The public and especially children are advised to stay away from all waterbodies. Click here for more in local flooding concerns.
