When to Plant Your Veggies!

Hint: It might be today.

Planting a garden has been a long standing tradition around my house. Nothing beats a fresh salad picked from your own backyard. Tomatoes and cucumbers are so easy to grow and presenting fresh from the garden veggies takes your entertaining to the next level!

Over the years I’ve picked up a few tips and tricks along the way. Like never put plants in the ground before May 24th. Can you get away with planting before then? Sometimes. But more often than not if you plant after the 24th you’re safe.

Here’s our garden shortly after we planted last year. Just the basics: Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions, Brussels sprouts, and some herbs.

But here’s the reality: Every veggie and every region is different which is why this tool from The Old Farmers Almanac is so cool. You type in your region and it creates a chart detailing when the most common vegetables should be planted. Check it out today and start planning your garden for this year.

Happy planting!
