Watch Pearl Jam Cover the White Stripes In Seattle

"We have two special teachers that my kids brought tonight that I wanted to allow them some notoriety"

Pearl Jam played their home town on Wednesday night, and as usual the show at Seattle’s Safeco Field was peppered with covers.

Eddie Vedder performed “We’re Going To Be Friends” from the White Stripe’s 2002 album White Blood Cells. Going it solo, with an acoustic guitar, Vedder dedicated the song to the teachers who have shaped the lives of Pearl Jam’s kids.  He explained that “Between the fellas in the band we have 10 kids between us,” and said “we have two special teachers that my kids brought tonight that I wanted to allow them some notoriety and some applause and some recognition from their fine group of neighbors here in Seattle. And I’d like to play this for them, borrowed from my friend Jack.”
