WATCH: Heathrow Baggage Handlers Honour Freddie Mercury on 72nd Birthday

He worked there before joining Queen in 1970

Little known fact: Freddie Mercury used to work as a baggage handler at London’s Heathrow Airport in 1970 before he joined Queen. To honour their former colleague, the baggage handlers at the airport performed Queen’s “I Want to Break Free” on what would have been Mercury’s 72nd birthday.

To top off their tribute to Freddie Mercury, any customer named Freddie, Frederick, or Farrokh (Mercury’s real name) who departed from terminal 5 (where they performed their dance) was treated to use British Airway’s First lounge.
