The Richest Musicians in the UK

Every year the Sunday Times Rich list is released, which outlines the richest individuals in the UK. The music-specific list has a few well-known names in the top five.

1. Paul McCartney 

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell are in the number one spot on the list this year. They have a combined wealth of over $1 Billion. McCartney is not considered to be a billionaire because half of his wealth comes from his wife, Nancy Shevell. Alone, he’s worth about $660 million.

2. Andrew Lloyd-Webber

Andrew Lloyd-Webber comes in second place with a total of $960 million to his name. He earned his millions by composing 13 musicals, and a bunch of film scores. His company, The Really Useful Group, is seen as one of the biggest theater operators in the UK.

3. U2

U2 is third on the list. These guys are worth approximately $710 million thanks to their award-winning music. U2 has 22 Grammys and are still touring and making music.

4. Elton John 

Elton John is worth $375 million as of this year. Not only is he an award-winning singer/songwriter, but also composer (The Lion King). He’s currently on a world tour.

5. Mick Jagger

Mick Jagger is worth $323 million primarily from touring with The Rolling Stones. Jagger has acted in and produced several films over the course of his fifty year career and released several solo albums.
