BARRIE POLICE SERVICE

Police Looking for Damaged Camry from Fail to RemainUPDATE: Vehicle has been located on Carol Road. Turns out it had been reported missing January 4 from Orillia. Theft suspect and driver have yet to be located.

On Friday, January 12th, 2018  at 4:15 pm, Barrie Police Service launched an investigation into a fail to remain collision near Ross Street and Bayfield Street, in the City of Barrie. One of the vehicles involved, believed to be a silver Toyota Camry, fled the scene without stopping to speak to the other driver involved or waiting for police.  Due to the collision, the fleeing car left behind the rear right tail light and had significant damage to the rear bumper. Police are looking for the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle pictured and are asking anyone who may have information to please contact PC M Mulhall of the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025 ext. 2561 or email at mmulhall@barriepolice.ca.

Police Seeking Identity of Break and Enter SuspectThe Barrie Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect following a break and enter at Joe’s No Frills. On Saturday, January 13, 2018 just before 8:00 a.m., the suspect was caught on video surveillance breaking into Joe’s No Frills located at 165 Wellington Street, in the City of Barrie. The suspect gained entry through the front door and headed directly to the main office. He quickly fled upon the early arrival of several employees. It is believed the same suspect is responsible for an attempted theft, which occurred on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Circle K, located at 420 Leacock Drive, in the City of Barrie. The suspect entered the back office, although was confronted by an employee and fled the area prior to police arriving. The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is described as;

  • Male, white
  • Slim build, 5’10”
  • Brown hair – short
  • Glasses (black frame)
  • Wearing a “Blue Jays” baseball hat, neon checkered scarf, navy blue peacoat jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.

SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE

On Friday, January 12, 2018, South Simcoe Police responded to The Roadshow Antique Mall, located in the Town of Innisfil for a report of a theft. Earlier that morning a man and a woman entered the store to purchase some jewellery. They attended at the cash to pay for some items but then distract the sales staff and leave the store without paying for a substantial amount of jewellery. The entire transaction was caught on camera. The male suspect is described as: male, white, 5’9″, heavy set, clean shaven, in his late 40’s wearing a black coat, tan pants and a black flat cap.The female suspect is described as: female, white, 5’2″, heavy set. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

On Saturday, January 13, 2018 around 2:00 p.m., an officer from the South Simcoe Police Traffic & Marine Unit was out on general patrol in the Town of Innisfil, when he spotted a driver using her cell phone while driving. The officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking to the driver, he noted a smell of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. A roadside screening device was conducted resulting in the WARN range. Her licence was suspended for 3 days. The driver was also charged with two Highway Traffic Act offences.

South Simcoe Police received a call from a concerned citizen around 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning about a possible impaired driver. A description of the man and the vehicle he was driving was provided, leading the officer to locate the vehicle at the corner of Northgate Drive and Parkside Court in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury with the driver behind the wheel. While the officer was speaking to the male driver, a strong smell of alcohol was detected and signs of impairment. A 34 year old Toronto man was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80mgs. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He will appear in court later this month to answer to his charges.

On Saturday, January 13, 2018, around 6:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to an Innisfil pharmacy for a report of a theft that occurred on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Two males entered the store around 3:50 p.m.. An employee sees one male filling a basket with a number of items and the other taking razors from the shelf and placing them into his coat. The two males were seen leaving the store together, a short time later, making no attempt to pay for the items.

On Sunday, January 14, near the lunch hour, a South Simcoe Police Service constable was patrolling Bradford. He checked the licence plate on a passing vehicle and learned that the owner of the car was suspended. The officer stopped the car and identified the driver. A 59 year old Bradford man was charged with Drive Under Suspension. He was given a court date in February.

BRACEBRIDGE OPP

On Friday December 12, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. a Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting routine patrol in the town of Gravenhurst, ON when a vehicle was observed being driven aggressively in light of the challenging winter driving conditions. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Second Street in Gravenhurst and as a result of his investigation, arrested and charged a 49 year-old from Gravenhurst with Impaired Driving, Over 80, Driving while Disqualified (related to a previous Over 80 conviction) and Driving while under Suspension. The accused received an immediate 90 day driver’s licence suspension and further had his vehicle towed and impounded. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 6, 2018 to answer to his charges.

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to attend a business on Talisman Drive in Gravenhurst, ON after a concerned member of the public called in to report a possible impaired driver on Thursday, January 11, 2018 just after 10:30 p.m. The vehicle had been driven up over a snowbank and onlookers were concerned that the driver was consuming alcohol. Officers located the vehicle and as a result of their investigation, arrested and charged a 32 year-old of Severn Township with Over 80 and Having Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle With an Unsealed Container of Liquor. The accused received an immediate 90 day driver’s licence suspension and further had his vehicle towed and impounded. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 6, 2018 to answer to his charges. Police would like to thank the engaged members of the public that take the time to call police when they suspect someone is driving impaired. COLLINGWOOD OPP

Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a break and enter to a local business and are asking for the public’s assistance in solving this crime. On January 15, 2018 at 5:00am OPP officers were dispatched to an alarm at the Telus store on Balsam Street in Collingwood.
