SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE

On Sunday, February 25, 2018, just after midnight, Souths Simcoe Police responded to a vehicle rollover on Innisfil Beach Road near Adullam Avenue, located in the Town of Innisfil.  When police arrived on scene,  the vehicle was found to be on it’s roof with extensive damage as it had struck a concrete median and a street sign.  The lone female driver had been safely removed and was being attended to by paramedics.  While police were speaking to the female a strong odour of alcohol was detected.  The driver was taken to a local hospital and was cleared medically. The 42 year old female from Innisfil was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Over 80mgs and will attend court in March to answer to these charges.

On Friday, February 23, 2018, around 2:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police officer out on foot patrol in the Tanger Outlet Mall in the Town of Innisfil when an employee from the Sunglass Hut informed him of a theft that occurred earlier in the day.  The employee received a call from another store outlet advising her of a theft that just occurred and a description of the suspects were given.   The description of the suspects sounded like shoppers from earlier that day.   When she checked her inventory,  she found a number of sunglasses were missing. The suspects description are, female, black, driving a small grey 4 door car.  Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

KAWARTHA LAKES OPP

Early Saturday morning, February 24, 2018 at approximately 2:55am officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in the Bolsover area. A homeowner awoke to a loud noise and found an intruder in the house. The intruder fled when confronted by the resident. Police attended a short time later and with the assistance of the OPP’s Canine Unit the intruder was located nearby. Arrested and charged with Break, Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence is a 34 year old man from Lindsay. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

PARRY SOUND OPP

On February 23, 2018 a member of the West Parry Sound detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a man on a warrant in Parry Sound, Ontario. The man was in possession of a counterfeit Canadian fifty dollar bill. A 28-year-old man from Parry Sound was charged with possessing counterfeit money contrary to section 450(b) of the Criminal Code (CC). The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, Ontario on March 1, 2018. Local retailers and the general public are reminded to be alert and to carefully inspect all currency to verify that it is authentic. On February 23, 2018 a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 69 in Britt Township, Ontario. At approximately 6:11 p.m. a north bound vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. As a result the vehicle was stopped for, “Stunt Driving”. The driver, a 23 year-old from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA). The driver was served a summons requiring him to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, Ontario on April 24, 2018. His licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating has been impounded for seven days. Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both. In addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended and the vehicle they were operating being impounded for seven days.
