Search For Injured Bear in Oro Medonte Ends

Bear Struck By Vehicle

They say the search is winding down without success, for a bear struck by a car in Oro Medonte. Barrie OPP say a vehicle struck a fully grown bear on Old Barrie Road near Penetanguishene Road, just before 7:30 this morning. The animal ran off, while authorities alerted nearby W.R. Best Public School to keep the kids indoors. Police and Ministry of Natural Resources began combing the area for the bear, but told us just before noon the search has come to an end. They weren’t able to find the bear, but ask anyone who may spot it to not approach it at all, but call police at 1-888-310-1122 or the MNR Bear Hotline at 1-866-514-2327 ASAP.
