Salmon Season Prep List
People say its hard to land a Salmon. Lets prove them wrong.
Salmon Season is SO close so I’ve prepped a checklist for all you anglers out there who are interested in getting yourself a trophy fish this season. Better yet, I’ve organized that checklist based on the rivers of our area! Did I miss one? Let me know – Jake
Nottawasaga River (Angus+Alliston)
- Silver/Chrome Spinners and Spoons
- Agitators (Mepps Spinners ETC.)
- A wide selection of flies based on the hatch (Stonefly, Mayflies, Larva ETC)
- Streamers (Bright colors for muddy water, any color for clear)
- Roe and Bobbers (This river is DEEP, fish pools about 3-7 feet deep, run 1 ft above the bottom)
- Pliers
- Multi tool
- Filet Knife
Boyne River (Alliston)
This river is very unique because, it’s very small. Being sneaky and matching the natural environment of the fish will net you big ones! I HIGHLY suggest fly fishing this river over everything else.
- A wide selection of flies based on the hatch (Stonefly, Mayflies, Larva ETC)
- Streamers (Focus on color here, match what the fish are attacking likely imitate small trout, river eels etc)
- San Juan Worms
- Black Wooly Bugger Beaded Head (The current is fairly strong, a beaded head helps fish the shallows really well. This combo has netted me more fish than any other fly)
- Roe!
The list above for the Boyne caught me that beautiful trout this april and can work on the Pine, and Mad river. I wish you luck, and many fishy tales! – Jake
