ROAD WORK: Plan Ahead This Weekend To Get In and Around Barrie

Get Ready For 400 Detours & Delays

Highway 400 passing through Barrie on any given weekend through the summer can be filled with delays, backed up traffic and congestion with locals and weekend warriors making their way on northbound routes to Cottage Country.

This weekend, getting through the Gateway to the North is going to make navigating through the area even trickier with some major construction causing detours and delays in Innisfil and through Barrie most of the weekend.

In Barrie, the remnants of the old Duckworth St. bridge will be torn down as part of the massive reconstruction program that’s been on-going in that part of the City.  Detours will be in effect surrounding the affected area from 10pm Friday through to 5am Monday morning.

Also, in Innisfil the McKay Road Bridge that passes over Highway 400 just south of Barrie will be torn down this weekend as part of its reconstruction program.  This will force a Highway 400 closure between Innisfil Beach Road and Mapleview Road in Barrie starting late Saturday night.

This weekend, if you’re going to be passing through the Barrie area using Highway 400, be prepared for the delays and give yourself extra time to get to where you are going.
